Nominee Eligibility

It's important to note that nominees should be residents of Plymouth or individuals who have made significant contributions to the community through community service. To maintain the spirit of the award, town employees, elected and appointed officials, and professionals with organizations providing services to the community are not eligible for the award.

Award Criteria

Nominees can be individuals who have served the Plymouth community in various ways, including culture, youth, education, conservation, environment, patriotism, history, humanitarian efforts, or the arts.

Nominees shall be evaluated based on:

  • Quality of Performance: Actively participating in and attending committees, and providing satisfactory presentation and/or completion of service activities.
  • Impact of Service: Demonstrating how their service has led to the improvement or enhancement of a group within the community.
  • Quantity of Service Contributions: Reflecting the number of service contribution hours committed to service activities and the longevity of their service.

Nominations are open to anyone, preferably from someone with first-hand knowledge of the nominee's service.

Nominees' service should primarily be in service to others and to the Plymouth community.

The Selection Process

After the nomination period ends, the Edward W. Santos Community Service Award Board of Directors carefully considers all nominations each October. The board follows a thorough evaluation process to select one deserving individual to receive the award for that year.
